Getting ready for your ICAS assessment at Focus

If you’ve registered your child with us for any ICAS assessments, you’ll want to check out the information below. We highly suggest you allow plenty of time to prepare your child’s device for these assessments.

Check the session dates and times you have registered for. If in doubt, contact us to make sure you have the right dates and times in your calendar. You should also receive confirmation emails, one for each individual student, listing the ICAS assessments and sessions they are registered for. Here are the session times and days for all ICAS assessments at Focus:

Prepare your child’s device for the assessment. All ICAS assessments are digital, and Focus is running Bring-Your-Own-Device sessions. Your child’s device will need to meet the minimum technical requirements for the ICAS assessment. You can run a technical readiness check on your child’s device by navigating to the ICAS Assessments webpage for technical requirements and clicking on the button for ‘Run technical readiness test’.

Download the Janison Replay locked-down browser (for ICAS Writing and Spelling Bee). This is a special browser that maintains the integrity of the testing environment. If your child is sitting ICAS Writing or Spelling Bee, they must have this browser installed on their device before the assessment. We have noted that school-provided Chromebooks may need school IT administration to download this browser, so we ask you to use an alternative device. You can view the instructions for downloading the browser on different operating systems including iOS on the ICAS Assessments webpage for the locked-down browser. Follow all the steps as listed. You will know you have successfully installed the locked-down browser and it is ready for use when you see these screens on opening it:

Arrive early on the day. The ICAS assessments are popular and there will be plenty of students also coming to sit the assessments. We ask students to arrive at least 20 minutes before the start of the assessment, so that we can check registrations and students can find their seats and connect their devices to the internet before the assessment starts.

Finally, please contact us as soon as possible if you run into any difficulties or you have any questions about the process.

We wish your child the best of luck with their ICAS assessments!

  1. Hi, Just a quick quotation. Could you please explain the way of providing answers to the quotation paper. (For Mathematics ) 1. Are the students given a printed question paper ? Or is it online ? 2. Should questions be marked on the computer or in a printed answer sheet?

And please let me know any other important details.

    Thank you

    Sisira Bandara.

    1. Hi Sisira, all of the ICAS assessments are digital, so the students complete their questions on their laptop or tablet. I suggest you check out the sample tests to see what it will look like: https://www.icasassessments.com/icas-preparation-tools/
Let us know if you have any questions. If your child is doing ICAS with us, you need to check that their device will be able to run the assessment. You can check that by running the technical readiness test on the device: https://www.icasassessments.com/support-technical-requirements/
      Cheers,
      The team at Focus
