Upcoming Writing Opportunities for Students!

Sending your writing for others to read is a great way to see how your ideas really matter in the world. Here are some opportunities for young writers to pursue:

International Essay Contest for Young People

An annual essay contest run by the Goi Peace Foundation, who aim to “harness the energy, creativity and initiative of the world’s youth in promoting a culture of peace and sustainable development.” This year’s theme is overcoming conflict, an important issue in the world and one that affects many young people. Entry is free and there are two categories: Children (up to 14 years old) and Youth (15-25 years old). Essays are due by June 15.

Toitoi Journal

Toitoi is a publisher of student-written magazine, teacher guides and other media for New Zealand Aotearoa young people. The Toitoi journal is widely distributed across New Zealand and has been featured on prominent media including TV. Young people aged 5-18 are encouraged to submit their writing and artwork for each issue. Next deadline for submission is May 31
