Results for ICAS 2025 have started to become available. At the time of writing, Digital Technologies, English, Science, Spelling Bee and Maths results are now out, with Writing due soon.
All students receive an in-depth report of their performance across major subject criteria, as well as a certificate of participation. Students who achieved high marks compared to their peers in the same year and nation for each subject are eligible for additional honours:
- A medal for those who achieved the highest mark
- A high distinction for those in the top 1% of participants (including any medal-winners)
- A distinction for those in the next top 10% of participants
- A credit for those in the next top 25% of participants
- A merit for those in the next 10% of participants

Reviewing the results
A major reason to sit ICAS Assessments is to receive a detailed report of your child’s strengths and weaknesses in the subject. We encourage you to review the report for several reasons:
- To celebrate the strengths and ‘wins’ of your child
- To identify areas for your child to work on next
- To encourage a positive and proactive attitude to academic competitions and study
In the results report, you can view your child’s success in each of the skill areas of the subject, and how this compares to their peers in the same year level and nation.

You can also drill down into each question to see the exact skill they were asked to perform. Please note: the actual questions are not released by ICAS.

This level of detail allows you to identify skill areas and specific skills for your child to work on next. For example, the student above did very well in overall observing and measuring skills in their ICAS Science, but found the question on planets with retrograde motion and consecutive observations difficult. This could point to an area for this student to work on.
If your child has sat ICAS Assessments in previous years, you can also compare their performance across skill areas to see where they are making progress or where they might need additional support.
Positive and proactive next steps
Whether your child has achieved a high mark or not in their ICAS Assessments, we encourage you to use this opportunity to reinforce a sense of positivity and proactivity in your child about their educational journey. Make the receipt of the results and certificate a celebration of their hard work as well as a reflection on their next steps.
Make sure to display the official ICAS certificate as part of your child’s accomplishments. A PDF certificate can be downloaded, but students will also receive a formal printed certificate.
Sometimes, children struggle with a sense of failure, particularly against parental expectations. Challenging but reachable standards are important to help students make progress. Alongside this, failure is a vital experience for students, so that they can more fully understand the consequences of their actions and the value of persistence and resilience.
Discuss the experience with your child and encourage them to identify some things to do to develop their skills and knowledge next. Offer support in a way appropriate to your child’s needs and find ways for them to take ownership of their studies.
Final note
We would like to extend our congratulations to all students who undertook ICAS 2025, and hope that the experience is a fruitful and positive one!
